About the role

You will own the engineering behind Ericson's Jobsite Power and Protection portfolio: portable power distribution units, transformer carts, temporary power panels, generator connection equipment, automatic transfer switches, and custom engineered power systems. Concept through production: schematics, one-line diagrams, bills of materials, prototypes, UL and third-party testing, and manufacturing handoff.

This is not a cog-in-the-machine seat. You inherit a proven product line with an installed base across North America, you sit close to leadership and sales, and you are about 200 feet from the floor where your designs get built. When your product ships, you will see it loaded on the truck.

What you'll do

  • Design portable and temporary power distribution equipment from concept through production
  • Create electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials
  • Build, test, and troubleshoot prototypes, and carry products through UL and third-party listing
  • Work side by side with production, quality, sourcing, and sales
  • Engineer custom power solutions for customers with problems nobody else will touch

What you'll bring

  • A BSEE, or an engineering degree plus the years that prove it
  • 5+ years designing electrical equipment: power distribution, switchgear, panelboards, generator connection systems, or similar
  • Fluency in three-phase power, NEC, and UL standards, with real exposure to product listing and validation testing
  • Hands-on prototype and test instincts: you would rather be at the bench than in a status meeting
  • AutoCAD proficiency; Creo is a plus

Nice to have

  • Portable or temporary power systems, rental equipment, transformer applications, Cam-Lok and pin-and-sleeve devices, GFCI protection systems
